Dinner #2: Chicken! Chicken! and MORE Chicken!!!!!!

So this post is a little late but this its to show you guys what i had for dinner on the second night of orientation. Usually i eat in big groups, to get to know  more people, try more types of food and because its cheaper for everyone! Lol

So i went out to Dinner with most of my Mini-Group that i had just met at orientation, my friend Jonna- who show up a lot! She is Awesome, and friends of people in my Mini-Group and neighbours in my Hostel.

Sorry the pictures are blurry, but this was the entrance of the Restaurant!

Unfortunately i didn't get a picture of the Menu but i'll try and explain what each thing is lol:

             Left-Right: Karol(peru), Katty(peru), Pelina( France), Jonna(Holland), Me :)

FOOD: 1 Salad & 2 Chicken Dishes (8,000KRW each)

"Appetizers"
Still not to sure what this is but when i asked MJ the next day its like Pudding ?!?!? texture was almost like jello- didn't really taste like anything but didn't smell so good..... Lesson Learned, as me a Jonna would say lol

PopCorn!!!!! & Seaweed soup i think, didnt really like it or the small  but all for the sake of first experiences :)
Main Dishes:
Chicken-Salad, the sauce tasted it had wasabi was in it and it made my nose hurt lol
Best Dish of the Night!

Chicken with like sweet & sour/ spicy sauce but it was too sweet and sticky! Jonna and i are finding we don't like the sauces on the meet to much prefer to have them on the side.

This was good i like that they always give a side of salad and fruit! But it was basically just fried chicken lol

Well thats it for that dinner but i felt accomplished because i got to say the order to the waitress after we decided what we wanted! and it was a really cheap dinner so that was good!

After Dinner:

After Dinner, Jonna and I went to Daddy J to hang out with other people. One of these days i'll take pictures of all the clubs and bars around Anam street. Anam street is like the street near campus with a lot of restaurants, shops and clubs/bars. The names of the bars are quite funny

Shout out to Alix for getting us all Flaming shots lol, which was AWESOME!!!!

KU Exchange and Visiting Students Orientation: Day 1

KU Exchange and Visiting Students Orientation: Day 1

So today was the Day 1 of orientation! I had to wake up earlier than all the previous days because orientation started at 9am. I had to be ready and waiting outside my Hostel/Apartment by 8:30 am to meet with my KUBA Buddy and group members that also lived in the same Hostel Since we didn't know how to get to Inchon Memorial Hall, where orientation was.

So for those who do not know, KUBA, stands for Korea University Buddy Assistants, almost like Colonial Cabinet at GWU. Its a group of 16 Korean students who applied and volunteer to help exchange students, host events and integrate us into life at KU and in Korea.

Since it was such a fully packed day, I will just summarize all the things we did and show mostly pictures!

Day 1:
  • Introduction to Korea University
  • Course Registration Instructions
  • Introduction to Office of INternational Affairs
  • Set Up KUPID and Email
  • Cell-Phones
  • Group Pictures
  • Campus Tours

Introductions:

I am in Group 8 A.K.A PowerEight lol.

My badge :)

Me and some of my group members: Jonna, MinJu(My Buddy), Cholook

Each of the 8 groups has about 60 students or so but within each group about 3-4 people are assigned to one buddy! Shout out to my AWESOME Buddy MinJu(MJ), she is hilarious!!!

Lunch Time:

We all Received a Meal Coupon worth  ₩ 5000. Thank You KU!!

Banana, Yogurt juice(Saved for later), kimchi/green beans(??) Rice, Chicken Nuggets & Salad, some type of meat thing that my Buddy couldn't explain lol

** Random stuff but i just tried to try different things

My Mini-Group: MJ(Buddy), Katty(she is from Peru)

Me and Cholook(Korean but lives in Japan)

I have gotten significantly better at using chopsticks but it was really funny because Katty also couldn't eat with chopsticks so at one point we were stabbing our chicken nuggets because we couldn't pick it up lol

Cell-Phone:

This is my new cell-phone. It cost me 70,000 KRW which is about $50. I tried to get a really cheap phone instead of a smart phone since i had my ipad but the cheap phones don't have KaKao Talk, its like Korean Whats App so i sucked it up and bought the smart phone.
**  Get KaKao talk from the App Store and send me ID so we cant KaKao Talk whenever lol

Campus Tours/Random Pictures:

Main Gate of KU

                                                                                  Mini Group
Love these Guys! Dastan & Sjoerd

Me & HeeSun(Buddy and a friend of a friend from GW: Hannah)

Welcome to Seoul........Lost in San Francisco

Welcome to Seoul........Lost in San Francisco

So as many saw on facebook, "I MADE IT"  I am in Seoul now, although I am writing this the day after. My flight was about 19 plus hours, six hours from Newark to San Francisco and then about 13 hours to Seoul.        My flight to San Francisco was delayed so i almost missed my connection flight to Seoul.  phew... so happy i didn't miss my flight. After sprinting through the airport to my gate i made it just in time. Do you know what didn't make it on time? MY LUGGAGE! Yes, MY LUGGAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With all my clothes, toiletries, bedsheets towels, you  know everything that i could possibly need! After talking to the people at baggage claim, they asked for my address in Korea and said they would deliver it today, the day after i arrived.
So here i am in this foreign country, in my hostel/dorm with nothing but my bag-pack and carryon- which by the way only has my shoes and some socks and i outfit-so happy i packed that.
Thankfully when i arrived to my hostel there were brand new sheets on the mattress and a pillow, which had and intresting stain on it....so that was no good. and for my blanket: my sweater and my Northface jacket!  And Just my luck the heated floor in my room was not working so just like the temperature outside it was about 32!! So toasty...NOT!

Anyways.. Here are some pictures of my room/other things:

My closet: lots of space ;)
